    Fold Up Crown Hat Knitting

    Pattern/Image/Tutorial By: Sanzhyul

    Difficulty: medium
    Working time: 1 day
Materials: yarn, circular knitting needles, stocking needles, markers, additional knitting needle

    1. Type 112, 128 or 144 stitches on circular knitting needles No. 3 112, 128 or 144 (for a hat on OG = 56-58 cm). You can change the number of loops in 16 pettic steps. It depends on your knitting density and the size of the future hat!

What is the reason for this? If you look closely at the top of the head, you will see 4 decorative paths, next to which subtractions are made. One track consists of [2 persons., 2 out., 2 persons.] = 6 loops. That is, for 4 tracks, we need 24 loops. For the symmetry of the picture, it is necessary that the number of rapports in each of the 4 sectors be “half”. For example 5.5 or 7.5 … then the sector between the tracks of 6 loops will begin and end with 2 purl. Let’s count: 6.5 rapports of 4 loops (for elastic band 2 * 2) = 26 loops. There are 4 such sectors, so a total of 26 * 4 = 104 loops. Add track loops to them (24) and you get 128 loops.

    2. Tie a hat of the desired length to the beginning of the crown:

    2 (700x700, 381Kb)

    3. Divide the loops into 4 parts using the stocking needles:

    3 (700x700, 365Kb)

Select a path of 6 loops in the center of each sector:

    4 (700x700, 427Kb)

Don’t forget to mark the beginning of the circular row and grab an extra knitting needle!

We knit the first circular row, we reach the central track of 6 loops [2 persons., 2 out., 2 persons.], 2 loops in front of the track we remove on an additional knitting needle and start to work.

    5 (700x394, 239Kb)

Now we need to overlap these two removed loops with 2 front tracks tilted to the right. To do this, you need to knit in pairs the loops from the main knitting needle and from the additional knitting needle.

    6 (700x525, 295Kb)

As a result, 2 loops standing to the right of the track are cut in one go. The track, as it were, overlaps the previous two loops with its right front loops.

Then knit 2 purl – central loops of the track, according to the pattern.

Now the two left front loops of the track overlap the following loops. To do this, remove the 2 knitting needles on the additional knitting needle and place them before work. Knit in pairs from the additional knitting needle and the main one. You got rid of 2 more loops! If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, look at the photo of the top of the head again.

    7 (700x525, 285Kb)

Repeat such manipulations before and after each track (we have 4 of them, each with 6 loops).

Knit the next circular row according to the figure, i.e. above each front – front, above each purl – purl.

Repeat decreasing stitches across the row. Watch out for the slope of the looped tracks!

When only tracks of 6 loops + tracks of 2 purl stitches remain on the needles, cut the loops between them like this:

1 row: knit all purl stitches 2 together (28 stitches will remain on the needles)

Row 2: according to the figure

3 row: all combinations of stitches [1 person., 1 out., 1 person.] Knit together with the front one (12 loops will remain on the needles )

4 row: according to the picture.

Knit all stitches 2 together, and pull the remaining stitches with a strong cotton thread.

    The hat is ready!

    1 (700x700, 394Kb)
    8 (600x450, 170Kb)

Abbreviations (U.S. / European crochet terms)
blo back loop only : insert hook under back loop only
    ch(s) chain or chain stitches
ch-2 sp chain 2 space(s): number denotes number of chains in chain space
    sc single crochet
sc2tog single crochet 2 together: (insert hook in st/sp, yoh, pull up loop) twice, yoh, draw through all
    loops
    ss slip stitch
    dc double crochet
    rep repeat
    Special Abbreviations
mosaicdc: double crochet in skipped stitch two rows below, in front of 2 ch2 spaces (front of work).
Mosaicdc goes always in same colour round except for round 5 as it is the first round with yarn B.

    Pattern notes
First sc is always worked in same stitch as ss.
Colour change always in ss with two loops on hook
The pattern is worked in 3 parts:
Part1: The brim worked in rows. The number of stitches is the brims height, the number of rows is the
brims size. The short ends are crocheted together in the last row of part 1 and joined to a ring. If the hat
is too small, add a multiple of 6 rows in back loop only. It does not affect the looks of the mosaic pattern
Part2: mosaic pattern part, worked in rounds in Yarns A and Yarn B

 Every row represents two crochet rounds in the same colour. The first round “creates” the
    pattern.
 Each square represents one stitch. If a Yarn B stitch appears in a Yarn A row you chain 2 and
skip the stitch. Same thing when a yarn A square appears in a Yarn B row.
 Second round is always: one sc in every sc and dc, a chain2 over every chain 2. It is crocheted
from bottom to top and from right to left.
     Row 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 Yarn A
     Row 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 Yarn B
 You crochet a mosaicdc if the square in the row below is an alternate colour square. It is always
worked two rounds below in front of work. This technique gives you the opportunity to create an
alternate colour stitch in the round below.
 The second round of every row is sc in every sc or mosaicdc and 1chain2skip1 over every
chain2skip1. The first round of every row “creates” the pattern and the second round
    “manifests” it.

 This mosaic pattern is a “neverending” pattern which makes the hat adjustable in a multiple of 6
stitches. Pattern of 6 repeats 12 times in a 72 stitch hat.
    © Martin Up North, 2017, www.martinupnorthblog.wordpress.com
 When a round starts with the alternate colour (chart rows 4, 7, 10, 13) you slipstitch as usual,
chain two and skip the stitch you slipstitched in because it is the first stitch of the round.
 In the beginning of second round of chartrows 4,7,10 and 13 you do not join the rounds but go
    on with a chain2, skip1.
 In the end of second round of chartrow 4,7,10 and 13 you change the colour before the last
chain2, skip1 which means after the last “regular” stitch.
 Chain2 always counts as stitch.
 Chain1 in the beginning of row/round does not count as stitch.

Part 3: The reduction part, is worked in rounds in Yarn A only. If you chose to make an adult size hat
you may crochet two rows of scs before starting the reduction part to gain some height.
    Pattern
    Part 1 – the Brim
    Row 1 Ch16, turn
    Row 2 1sc in second stitch, 14scs, ch1, turn work. [15 scs]
    Row3 15scs in backloop only, ch1, turn work. [15 scs}
    Row4 to row 72: as row 3.

If you want your hat bigger you can add a multiple of 6 rows. (78, 84 or 90 rows)
Row 73 Join the short ends of your brim with 15ss (through sc in row 73 and stitches in row 2) through
    both ends. ch1. [15 ss]
Turn work inside out so the last row made is on the inside of work.
Now you should have made a proper headband.
Part 2 – the mosaic part
From now on the hat is worked in rounds. First round is worked in first/last stitch of the 72 rows, like a
    border
It is also the first row 1 of the mosaic chart (all red, without any white square)

    ——————————————————-

    EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

    ——————————————————-

    INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced):
To work out how to increase/decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 50 stitches) and divide by the number of increases/decreases to be made (e.g. 6) = 8.3.
In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approximately each 8th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.
When decreasing, in this example, knit each 7th and 8th stitch together (approx.).

    MOSS STITCH:
    ROUND 1: * Knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-*.
ROUND 2: Knit over purl and purl over knit. Repeat round 2.

    PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Choose diagram for your size.

    RAGLAN:
Increase 1 stitch on each side of the 2 knitted stitches in each transition between body and sleeves (= 8 stitches increased on round). Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over.
On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted (= no holes), apart from on the front piece where you knit the yarn overs (= holes).
Then work the new stitches into the pattern (i.e. in moss stitch on the sleeves, stockinette stitch on the back piece and pattern/stockinette stitch on the front piece.

    DECREASE TIP (for sleeves):
Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker thread, knit 3 together = 1 stitch (move marker thread to before this stitch).

    ——————————————————-

    START THE PIECE HERE:

    ——————————————————-

SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, top down.
You can work an elevation in the back of the neck for a better fit, so that the yoke is slightly higher at the back. This elevation can be left out; the neck is then the same front and back – read description of elevation further down the text. After the yoke the body is worked in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles.

    NECK:
Cast on 50-50-52-56-58-60 stitches with circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and 2 strands Air. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 1 / purl 1) for 3 cm = 1 1/4″. Knit 1 round where you increase 6-6-8-4-6-0 stitches evenly on round – read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 56-56-60-60-64-60 stitches. Change to circular needle size 8 mm = US 11. Now you can work an elevation in the back of the neck or go straight to yoke if you do not want an elevation.

    ELEVATION IN BACK OF NECK:
Skip this section if you do not want an elevation.
Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid back). Start from the right side and knit 6-6-6-7-7-7 stitches past the marker, turn, tighten the strand and purl 12-12-12-14-14-14 stitches. Turn, tighten the strand and knit 18-18-18-21-21-21 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and purl 24-24-24-28-28-28 stitches. Turn, tighten the strand and knit 30-30-30-35-35-35 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and purl to mid back, then purl 10 stitches past the marker, turn. Start the next round (i.e. the yoke) here.

    YOKE:
Insert 1 marker here – THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE!
Now insert 4 marker threads in the piece as follows (without working the stitches): Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the round (= in transition between sleeve and back piece), the 2nd marker thread is inserted after the next 19 stitches (= back piece), 3rd marker thread is inserted after the next 9-9-11-11-13-11 stitches (= sleeve) and 4th marker thread is inserted after the next 19 stitches (= front piece). There are 9-9-11-11-13-11 stitches left to the first marker thread (= sleeve).

The next round is worked as follows: The round starts at the first marker thread, in the transition between sleeve and back piece. Knit 1, make 1 yarn over, work 17 stitches in stockinette stitch (= back piece), make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over, work 7-7-9-9-11-9 stitches MOSS STITCH – read description above (= sleeve), make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over, work A.1 (= 17 stitches – choose diagram for your size = front piece), make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over, work 7-7-9-9-11-9 stitches in moss stitch (= sleeve), make 1 yarn over, knit 1.

The first increase to RAGLAN – read description above, is now finished (= 8 stitches increased on the round). Continue this pattern and increase to raglan every 2nd round a total of 15-17-18-19-20-22 times (including the first round described above). NOTE: When A.1 has been completed in height, there are still 2-4-5-6-3-5 increases to raglan left. Then work A.2 (= 43-43-43-43-51-51 stitches) over A.1, the last increases are worked in stockinette stitch on each side of A.2 as you go. Repeat diagram A.2 in height to finished length. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE!

After the last increase to raglan there are 176-192-204-212-224-236 stitches on the needle. Continue with pattern as before, without increases, until the piece measures 21-23-24-26-27-29 cm = 8 1/4″-9”-9 1/2″-10 1/4″-10 3/4”-11 1/2″ from the marker at the beginning of the yoke.
The next round is worked as follows:

Work 50-54-57-60-63-68 stitches in stockinette stitch (= on back piece), place the next 37-41-43-43-45-45 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 4-4-4-6-8-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work 4-6-8-10-8-11 stitches in stockinette stitch, continue A.2 (= 43-43-43-43-51-51 stitches) and work 4-6-8-10-8-11 stitches in stockinette stitch (= front piece), place the next 37-41-43-43-45-45 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 4-4-4-6-8-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the last 1-1-2-3-4-5 stitches (= on back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE!

    BODY:
= 110-118-126-138-150-166 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 4-4-4-6-8-10 new stitches cast on under the sleeve in each side. Start the round by one of the marker threads and allow the marker threads to follow your work onwards. Continue with stockinette stitch and pattern A.2. When the piece measures 24-24-25-25-26-26 cm = 9 1/2″-9 1/2″-10”-10”-10 1/2″-10 ½” from the division (approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58 c¬¬m = 19”-19 3/4″-20 1/2″-21 1/4″-22”-22 3/4″ from the shoulder) knit 1 round where you increase 16-18-18-20-22-24 stitches evenly on round = 126-136-144-158-172-190 stitches.

Change to circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and work rib (= knit 1 / purl 1) for 4 cm = 1 1/2″. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – to avoid the cast-off edge being tight, you can bind off with a needle size 8 mm = US 11. The sweater measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20 1/2″-21 1/4″-22”-22 1/4″-23 1/2”-24 1/2″ from the shoulder.

    SLEEVE:
Place the 37-41-43-43-45-45 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 8 mm = US 11 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 4-4-4-6-8-10 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 41-45-47-49-53-55 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 4-4-4-6-8-10 stitches under the sleeve and start the round here. Work moss stitch. When the piece measures 2 cm = 3/4″ from the division, decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 4-3½-2½-3-2-2 cm = 1 1/2″-1 3/8”-1”-1 1/4”-3/4”-3/4” a total of 7-8-9-9-11-11 times = 27-29-29-31-31-33 stitches.

Continue working until the piece measures 36-34-34-32-32-30 cm = 14 1/4″-13 1/2″-13 1/2″-12 3/4″-12 3/4″-12” from the division (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to longer yoke). Knit 1 round where you increase 5 stitches evenly on round = 32-34-34-36-36-38 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 7 mm = US 10,75 and work rib (=knit 1/ purl 1) for 5 cm = 2”. The sleeve measures approx. 41-39-39-37-37-35 cm = 16”-15 1/2″-15 ½”-14 1/2″-14 1/2″-13 3/4″ from the division. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – to avoid the cast-off edge being tight, you can bind off with a needle size 8 mm = US 11. Work the other sleeve in the same way.

    EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

    ———————————————————-

GARTER STITCH (worked in the round):
    1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

    GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
    1 ridge = knit 2 rows.

    PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.8. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side.

    SHORT ROWS IN BAND:
Work short rows over stitches in band to avoid it contracting vertically. Work as follows from right side every 20th row: Knit 5 (= right band), turn and work back. Work 1 row over all stitches as before. Turn and knit 5 (= left band), turn and work back. Turn and work 1 row over all stitches as before.

INCREASE TIP-1 (applies to sides of body):
All increases are done from the right side.
Increase 2 stitches in each section with marker thread as follows:
Work until first section in stockinette stitch and marker thread, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit until 1 stitch remains in section with stockinette stitch, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= 2 stitches increased). Repeat at each of the remaining sections with stockinette stitch and marker thread (= 8 stitches increased on every row with increase). On next row purl yarn over twisted to avoid holes.

    INCREASE TIP-2 (applies to collar):
All increases are done from the right side.
Increase 1 stitch by making a yarn over inside 3 stitches in garter stitch on band mid front. On next row knit yarn over twisted to avoid holes.

    INCREASE TIP-3 (applies to sleeves):
Work until 2 stitches remain before marker under sleeve, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker is in the middle of these stitches), make 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch.

    DECREASE TIP (applies to body):
All decreases are done from the right side!
Decrease 2 stitches in each of the 8 sections with 20-22-24-24-24-24 stitches in stockinette stitch as follows: Work until first section with stockinette stitch, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over, work until 2 stitches remain in this section with stockinette stitch, knit the last 2 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased). Repeat at each of the remaining 7 sections with stockinette stitch (= 16 stitches decreased on every row with decrease).

    BUTTONHOLES:
Decrease for buttonholes on right band when garment is worn (i.e. decrease at the beginning of row from right side). 1 BUTTONHOLE = knit third and fourth stitch from edge together and make 1 yarn over. On next row knit yarn over = hole.
Decrease for buttonholes when piece measures:
    S: 27, 36, 45 and 54 cm
    M: 28, 37, 46 and 55 cm
    L: 29, 38, 47 and 56 cm
    XL: 30, 39, 48 and 57 cm
    XXL: 31, 40, 49 and 58 cm
    XXXL: 32, 41, 50 and 59 cm

JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Worked back and forth on circular needle up to armhole, then work front pieces and back piece back and forth separately. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle.

    BODY:
Cast on 323-339-355-391-391-427 stitches on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Lima. Work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6. Work 2 rows in stockinette stitch with 5 band stitches in garter stitch in each side towards mid front. Now work pattern from right side in the different sizes as follows:

    Size S, M and L:
5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.1 (= 9 stitches), A.3 (= 18 stitches), * stockinette stitch over the next 20-22-24 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches *, work from *-* 3 times in total, stockinette stitch over the next 20-22-24 stitches, A.5 over the next 18 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches, A.3 over the next 18 stitches, * stockinette stitch over the next 20-22-24 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches *, work from *-* 3 times in total, stockinette stitch over the next 20-22-24 stitches, A.5, A.1, 5 band stitches in garter stitch.

    Size XL, XXL and XXXL:
5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.1 (= 9 stitches), A.7 (= 18 stitches), A.1 over the next 9-9-18 stitches (= 1-1-2 repetitions in total), * stockinette stitch over the next 24-24-24 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches *, work from *-* 3 times in total, stockinette stitch over the next 24-24-24 stitches, A.1 over the next 9-9-18 stitches (= 1-1-2 repetitions in total), A.7 over the next 18 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches, A.7 over the next 18 stitches, A.1 over the next 9-9-18 stitches (= 1-1-2 repetitions in total), * stotcking stitch over the next 24-24-24 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches *, work from *-* 3 times in total, stockinette stitch over the next 24-24-24 stitches, A.1 over the next 9-9-18 stitches (= 1-1-2 repetitions in total), A.7 over the next 18 stitches, A.1 over the next 9 stitches, 5 band stitches in garter stitch.

    All sizes:
On first row increase stitches in each diagram, increases are shown in diagram (= 17-17-17-21-21-25 stitches increased) = 340-356-372-412-412-452 stitches. Work band stitches in garter stitch until finished measurements and on every 20th row work SHORT ROWS IN BAND – read explanation above. When A.1, A.3, A.5 and A.7 have been worked vertically, work A.2 over A.1, A.4 over A.3, A.6 over A.5 and A.8 over A.7 until finished measurements. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE. When piece measures 9-6-7-11-8-9 cm / 3 ½”-2 3/8″-2 ¾”-4 ¼”-3 1/8″-3 ½”, begin decrease in every section with 20-22-24-24-24-24 stitches in stockinette stitch – read DECREASE TIP.

Decrease like this every 5-5-5-4-5-5 cm / 1 7/8″-1 7/8″-1 7/8″-1 ½”-1 7/8″-1 7/8″ 8-9-9-10-9-9 times in total = 212-212-228-252-268-308 stitches. After all decreases are done, there are 4-4-6-4-6-6 stitches in stockinette stitch in every section with stockinette stitch. Remember BUTTONHOLES on right band – read explanation above. When piece measures 47-48-49-50-51-52 cm / 18½”-19”-19¼”-19¾”-20”-20½”, insert 4 marker threads in piece as follows: Insert a marker thread in 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th section with stockinette stitch. I.e. the 2 middle section in stockinette stitch in each side of piece.

On next row from right side, increase in every section with marker thread – read INCREASE TIP-1! Increase like this every 4-4-4-4-2-2 cm / 1 ½”-1 ½”-1 ½”-1 ½”-¾”-¾” 1-2-3-3-3-3 times in total = 220-228-252-276-292-332 stitches. When piece measures 58-59-60-61-62-63 cm / 22¾”-23¼”-23 5/8”-24”-24 3/8”-24¾”, work next row from wrong side as follows:

Work the first 56-58-64-70-74-84 stitches (= right front piece), bind off the next 8 stitches under sleeve, work the next 92-96-108-120-128-148 stitches (= back piece), bind off the next 8 stitches under sleeve, work the last 56-58-64-70-74-84 stitches on needle (= left front piece). Cut the yarn. Slip stitches for right and left front piece on separate stitch holders and work the back piece.

    BACK PIECE:
= 92-96-108-120-128-148 stitches. Continue pattern back and forth the same way but work edge stitch in each side in garter stitch, AT THE SAME TIME bind off for armhole at the beginning of every row in each side of piece as follows: bind off 3 stitches 0-0-0-0-0-2 times, 2 stitches 1-2-3-3-3-3 times and 1 stitch 1-1-3-2-3-2 times = 86-86-90-104-110-120 stitches. When piece measures 74-76-78-80-82-84 cm / 29 1/8”-30”-30¾”-31½”-32¼”-33” / 29 1/8”-30”-30¾”-31½”-32¼”-33”, bind off the middle 24-24-26-26-28-28 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately = 31-31-32-39-41-46 stitches.

Continue with knit over knit and purl over purl until piece measures 75-77-79-81-83-85 cm / 29½”-30 3/8”-31”-32”-32¾”-33½”. Now work 1 ridge over all stitches, at the same time decrease 3-3-3-4-4-6 stitches evenly = 28-28-29-35-37-40 stitches. Bind off. Work the other shoulder the same way.

    RIGHT FRONT PIECE:
= 56-58-64-70-74-84 stitches. Continue pattern back and forth the same way. On first row begin increase for collar – read INCREASE TIP-2. Increase like this every 4th row 8-8-10-10-12-12 times in total, AT THE SAME TIME bind off for armhole at beginning of every row from side the same way as on back piece. When all bind offs for armhole and all increases for collar are done, there are 61-61-65-72-77-82 stitches on needle. Continue until piece measures 75-77-79-81-83-85 cm / 29½”-30 3/8”-31”-32”-32¾”-33½”, adjust so that next row is worked from right side:

Knit the first 30-30-33-33-36-36 stitches before slipping them on a stitch holder (= collar), knit the next 31-31-32-39-41-46 stitches, AT THE SAME TIME decrease 3-3-3-4-4-6 stitches evenly = 28-28-29-35-37-40 stitches for shoulder. Turn and knit over stitches for shoulder, turn and bind off. Slip stitches from stitch holder back on circular needle and knit 1 row from wrong side. Then work shawl collar in garter stitch, begin from mid front as follows: * Work 2 rows back and forth over the first 18-18-20-20-21-22 stitches, work 2 rows back and forth over all stitches *, work from *-* until collar measures 6-6-6-6-7-7 cm / 2 3/8″-2 3/8″-2 3/8″-2 3/8″-2 ¾”-2 ¾” on the shortest. Bind off.

    LEFT FRONT PIECE:
= 56-58-64-70-74-84 stitches. Continue pattern back and forth the same way. On first row begin increase for collar – remember INCREASE TIP-2. Increase like this every 4th row 8-8-10-10-12-12 times in total, AT THE SAME TIME bind off for armhole at beginning of every row from side the same way as on back piece and right front piece. When all bind offs for armhole and all increases for collar are done, there are 61-61-65-72-77-82 stitches on needle. Continue until piece measures 75-77-79-81-83-85 cm / 29½”-30 3/8”-31”-32”-32¾”-33½”, adjust so that next row is worked from wrong side:

Knit the first 30-30-33-33-36-36 stitches before slipping them on a stitch holder (= collar), knit the next 31-31-32-39-41-46 stitches, AT THE SAME TIME decrease 3-3-3-4-4-6 stitches evenly = 28-28-29-35-37-40 stitches for shoulder, turn and bind off. Slip stitches from stitch holder back on circular needle and knit 1 row from right side. Bind off.

    SLEEVE:
Work sleeve in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 52-54-56-58-60-60 stitches on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Lima. Work 1 ridge. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm / US 6. Work 1 round in stockinette stitch. Then work as follows: 8-9-10-11-12-12 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.1 (= 9 stitches), A.7 (= 18 stitches), A.1, 8-9-10-11-12-12 stitches in stockinette stitch, insert 1 marker at the beginning of round. Continue pattern like this. When A.1 and A.7 have been worked vertically, continue with A.2 over A.1 and A.8 over A.7. When piece measures 8 cm / 3 1/8”, increase 1 stitch on each side of marker – read INCREASE TIP-3.

    Increase like this every 3-3-3-3-1-1 cm / 1 1/8″-1 1/8″-1 1/8″-1 1/8″-3/8″-3/8″ 9-8-5-2-0-7 times and every 4-2-2-2-2-2 cm / 1 ½”-¾”-¾”-¾”-¾”-¾” 1-3-7-11-14-9 times = 76-80-84-88-92-96 stitches. Work the increased stitches in stockinette stitch.

When piece measures 46-45-44-43-40-38 cm / 18″-17 5/8″-17 ¼”-16 7/8″-15 ¾”-14 7/8″ (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulders), bind off for sleeve cap at beginning of every row in each side as follows: bind off 4 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 4-3-3-3-3-3 times, 1 stitch 2-6-7-6-9-10 times, 2 stitches 3-1-1-1-3-3 times and 3 stitches 2-3-3-4-2-2 times = 24-26-28-28-30-32 stitches. Light woods usually come from trees like eucalyptus, pine, pine, cherry and itaúba, we all know how light they are. The medium and dark tones are found in trees such as cedar, imbuiá, american oak, cumarú, ipê and cedrinho, also well known. For those who prefer the warm and reddish tones of wood you can bet on species like mahogany, rosewood or pau ferro, peroba and angelim. Wood is an extremely versatile material that blends in with every room in the house and an infinite variety of colors. But some shades look especially better in certain combinations than in others.

Wood is an extremely versatile material that blends in with all the environments of the house and with an infinite variety of colors, just knowing how to combine. But some shades look especially better in certain combinations than in others. It is also important to take into consideration the style of decoration you intend to give to the environment. The light woods harmonize with modern and youthful proposals and can be successfully combined with dark and neutral colors such as black, gray and teal. Soft decorations with a romantic or childlike footprint also balance with light wood tones, especially in the presence of very beautiful colors such as pink, lilac and light blue. And finally, you can dare to combine light wood with red.

Dark shades of wood should preferably be used in light and neutral decorations, unless the intention is to create a striking, dark style environment. Yellow is also a great color option to use in conjunction with dark woods, the combination is very beautiful. Colors such as green and brown match all wood tones, precisely because they are colors that remind us of nature. Already the reddish tones are valued in the warm and dynamic presence of orange. And the white? White is free to use with any shade of wood.
