Yarn: One skein of the economical big ball size of Bernat Baby Sport (100% Acrylic, 12.3 oz / 350g, 1148 meters/1256 yards). This is a light (3) yarn. You can substitute with your favorite light (3) yarn. Color I used (as seen in photos): Baby Pink

Blanket Body
Chain: 117 for a blanket that is 47″ wide (or however long you would like to make it in multiples of 2 + 1)
Row 1: In the 2nd chain from hook, sc. In the next chain, dc. In the next chain, sc. In the next chain, dc. Repeat from * to * across entire row. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2: Sc into the 1st st (the top of the last dc you completed). Dc into the next stitch dc (the top of the sc from the previous row). Sc into the next st. Dc into the next stitch. Repeat from * to * across entire row. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 3 and on: Repeat Row 2 until your rows measure around 35” or 89 cm (approximately 90 rows) or your desired length. Do not fasten off.
Blanket Border
Row 1: (Ensure that you have chained 1 and turned). Sc across row. At corner, sc three times into the corner stitch. Continue to sc evenly down the side, then bottom and then other side. At corner, sc three times into corner stitch. When back at your first sc stitch. join with a slip stitch. Chain 1 and turn work.
Border Rows 2, 3, 4 & 5: Sc around. At each corner, sc 3 times into the one corner stitch (the middle of the three sc you did in the corner of the previous row. Do this at each corner. When you reach the place where you started, join with a slip stitch. Chain 1 and turn work.You will now have 5 rows of single crochet stitches.If you are not adding shells to the border, fasten off and weave in loose ends.
ADDING ADDING SHELLS TO BORDER: Ensure you have chained 1 and turned your work. Skip the next stitch, slip stitch into the next stitch, skip the next stitch, double crochet 5 times into the next stitch, skip the next stitch.Repeat from * to * across row.
